New Book for Quilt Market!

Big smiles for Quilt Market!

Yay! Josh and I are going to quilt market in May!

So what is quilt market? Basically this is a huge trade show where quilting business owners get together, find new products, sell products, check out the trends, and generally talk shop about the business of quilting.

This market happens 2 times a year in the spring and fall. The spring market changes location each year, but the fall market is always in Houston, TX. This year the spring market is in Pittsburgh, PA, which isn’t super close, but it’s definitely closer than Texas!

I’ve never been to market before, but I’ve heard about it and read about it for years. As a publisher, the time is finally right for us to go because we have a new, super special book we’d love to see in stores:

Yes, this is a brand new second edition of 365 Free Motion Quilting DesignsThis edition features a beautiful new layout, spiral binding, and gorgeous bright colors to detail every stitch.

We published the original book in 2012 and immediately had great success with the ebook version and print edition on Amazon.com. We always intended to also create a spiral bound edition, but producing a book this big (it’s over 240 pages!) is very expensive.

Our goal with this book is distribution – to have 365 Free Motion Quilting Designs found in quilt shops and catalogs around the world. So far we’ve sold over 3000 copies and already have a reprint going for another batch!

Being a self publisher is challenging because you have to wear so many hats and be responsible for so many details. But the end result is absolutely worth it. This book will remain in print forever – as long as quilters are interested in quilting beautiful free motion designs.

Let’s go quilt,

  1. Ah! I want to go to market so badly but I don't quite meet the new credentials yet. I'm hoping I make the cut. I'm also getting married the week before, so that makes it a bit tight to be ready haha!

  2. Woot! Woot! on the new book, & yay on going to Quilt Market! I think that is a great idea for the LQS to stock; I know I frequent mine less now that I do so much online shopping, gulp!
I also want to put in a plug for why quilters NEED to BUY this book, or one of the other FMQ books you have put out. I found you online, and you were my first inspiration and go-to source for figuring out my 2nd hand Avanté all by myself. You are an awesome free online resource for quilting on a DMS or a LA, but, having bought both your FMQ books, I really appreciate having a hard copy in front of me with a nice big picture. I have them both within arm's reach of my Bernina and my Avanté, and I refer to them a LOT. And it's important to support you when you give SO MUCH to us. Thank you. I'll get off my soapbox now.

So exciting! I also found you online, accidentally while I was looking for ways to teach myself to Free Motion Quilt.
It has been a lot of fun – and instructional – ever since…
