Basket Weave QCT Quilt Along

Last month I shared the Basket Weave with QCT quilt along during Grace Company’s Fantastic Fall Festival. It was a terrific event and I learned so much about computerized quilting as I shared these tutorials.

But finding these videos after the event ended proved a little difficult. I decided to create one place where you can find all the videos and handy design PDF in one place. Click Here to check out the Basket Weave with QCT Quilt Along.

My challenge for this project was to design a quilt panel and to quilt it almost entirely with Quilter’s Creative Touch 5 Beginnings. I wanted an autumn themed tablecloth quilt and yep, I designed the panel to specifically fit my table. There was a bit of extra space on the side so I also included a table runner too!

A Cheerful Quilt in a Dark Time

It has been so nice to have this quilt on our dining room table through this season. The bright colors have helped cheer me up during this dark time and I love how the panel and fabric are looking after a few runs through the washer and dryer.

Because I knew I was making a table cloth from the beginning, I used 100% cotton flannel as the batting. I wanted the quilt to finish very flat and lightweight. Unfortunately this also means the quilting designs don’t have much definition. They don’t poof up from the quilt surface and get a bit lost in the crinkles of the quilt.

So I’m planning another table cloth quilt for the spring, and this time I’ll use a 100% polyester batting, probably Quilter’s Dream Select, and see if that works better. As with all things with quilting – experiment and experience are the best guides.

Of course, you’re welcome to join in the fun of the Basket Weave with QCT Quilt Along anytime. The quilt panel and videos will be available forever and you can find all the information you need right here.

Let’s go quilt,
