Longarm Quilting the Scrap Overload Block

Today we’re hopping on the Grace Qnique Longarm to quilt undulation on the Scrap Overload Block.

Click Here to find the pattern for Block #5 – Scrap Overload! Yes, you can get started today with this quilt along because all of the tutorials and videos will remain online forever!

You’ll remember the design Undulation from the Tree of Life Block. I chose this one on this month’s block because it adds a nice flowing texture over the blocky, boxy shapes. It’s also very fast to quilt which is great because the piecing took so long.

If Undulation gets too dense or intense, simply stitch across leaving a lot more space between the lines. The more irregular and crazily spaced the lines, the better it looks!

I love how this design looks over this super scrappy block!

So that’s it for the Scrap Overload Block! Next month will not be so piece-crazy, I promise! Stay tuned…

Let’s go quilt,

Hi Leah, in this video you stitched the edge of the block, called it a “victory lap”. I hadn’t noticed you doing this on these blocks before. Should I be stitching the edges of all the blocks? Or just this one because of the piano key border? Or is this a long arm thing? I’m quilting on a DM.
I’m still piecing these darling ? HST so not quilting yet.
Still having fun, building some skills, and loving the journey.
    Thank you

Great question Laurie! I’m stitching around the edges when it’s convenient, but no, you don’t have to do this right now. It’s technically not the victory lap because that will be smaller than the size the block was pieced. I hope that makes sense! I hope you start quilting soon!
