Day 317 – Munch Munch Munch

It’s a wet and gray Labor Day here, the perfect day to stay inside and close to the machine. Let’s experiment with a simple combination of circles and triangles to create a neat texture that looks like a famous video game character!

Pac Man is a video game icon and still one of my favorite game NES games to play, but how does it work to stitch this munchy design?

Difficulty Level – Intermediate. This is a fairly easy combination! Stitch a triangle, then pivot and echo with a circle shape. If you surround the triangle with only 1 circle, it really looks much more like Pac Man than if you use multiple circles.

Design Family – Echoing. Munch Munch Munch is kind of a cheating Echoing Design, very similar to Echo Shortcut, because you’re skipping the step to travel stitch before echo quilting.

Directional Texture – No Direction. This design ends up reading a lot like Pebbling and other stacking designs because all the shapes lock together in one flat texture. Definitely use this in the background areas of your quilt or any place you need a little your quilt to flatten out.

Suggestions for Use – Is it possible to create a Pac Man Quilt? Absolutely! Stitch a maze on your quilt using Circuit Board, then fill in a few spaces with Munch Munch Munch. Just watch out for video game fans like me – you’ll probably get a lot of people wanting to take that quilt home!
