Another fun poll…
If you happen to look in the upper, right hand corner of your screen you will see a friendly new poll asking you to vote on what you would like to see more of on the project.
Here’s a run down of what I mean with each selection (I know a few seem like the same thing):
- More designs – If you vote for this, you’re in the group of people yelling “FINISH THE 365 PROJECT ALREADY!” More designs, more often would make you the happiest quilter in the world.
- More video tutorials – This could be anything from how to piece a Y seam to how I’m organizing my fat quarters now. Vote for this if you simply want videos teaching you how to do something fun in your sewing studio.
- More Quilts or Quilting Projects – Do you love cute small quilts? Do you want to know what to do with all your quilted samples? If you’re looking for more projects to stitch, learn from, and grow with, this is the choice for you.
- More Info on Using the Designs – I’ve said it a million times that these designs can go everywhere, but I haven’t been that great about showing you how that works! Vote for this one if you want to see the designs in something other than a 4″ square.
- More Recipes – Pretty self explanatory, but Josh is running low on his favorites, so we might start asking for submissions. Vote for this one if you’d like to share your grandmothers famous Banana Pudding recipe or find it here instead.
- More Piecing Projects – My focus is quilting quilts (it’s called the free motion quilting project, right?!), but that doesn’t mean I’m against creating tutorials on piecing as well! If you want to know the secrets to perfect flying geese, this is the choice for you.
Of course, if there’s something you’d like to see more of and it’s not on this list, by all means suggest it in the comments below.
I can’t promise I can do everything for everyone (I would go crazy trying), but I have enjoyed making my quick new videocasts and would like to make more, but I kind of need a direction to go in and focus on.
The quilting world is vast and interesting! I could make a video a day on something and still be have stuff to share in 10 years. Life is never boring when you quilt!

Don't let this poll make you crazy trying to please everyone!! You already do an outstanding job providing inspiration and knowledge to quilters. We love what you are doing!
I would like to see the entire little square being quilted when you introduce the designs. I liked the ones where part of it was in fastforward mode, just so I could see the way you moved through the design.
Did you finish the "How do I Quilt This" video series? If so I missed the end part, and don't know where to find it.

thank you for being so generous with all your techniques, videos, patterns, etc! I feel downright guilty even responding to a poll asking for more of anything (but I did it anyway!). Everything you do is wonderful!

I enjoy all that you post. I voted for video tutorials, but that doesn't me I wouldn't also enjoy learning more designs or more "how do I quilt this" or a recipe, too. You are an amazing teacher, mom, and couple (with Josh, of course). Your decisions have been great so far, although I should ask you to consider doing a retreat with Megan (bitchy stitcher)despite your not wanting to go on the road to teach.
Hard to chose only one. I changed my vote a couple of times. I will be happy with anything you decide, even if you decide to not change anything. You are a tallented artist and very generous to share your knowledge with us. For Mother's Day- do whatever you want. I have been working longer hours and not had time to do much quilting. I did dust off my machine the other day. I want to spend my Mother's Day sewing and quilting ALL day. Of course after sleeping in.
All you do and share with us is fantastic – if I could I'd be voting for all the sections in the pole – but the main thing is how to use what where in different format of quilts and working up 'modern' pieced quilts and using the designs in them – another thing I fancy is trying to design a whole cloth (with a modern twist) and FMQ stitch along, maybe partnered with the whole cloth (cot or lap sized for starters)

I couldn't figure out what to click on for the poll. The most important to me is to continue with the designs and the tutorials that go with them. I agree about the comment having the fast forward and actually watching the whole square quilted. I have also been enjoying your weekly videos.

I would love to see more info on how to use the designs. With each demo being a 4×4 area, I'm just not sure how to put a bunch together and make a quilt top with them. Do I do 4×4 inch sections or should I do bigger sections? How many can I put together witout it being overwhelming to the eye? I've only started quilting in November 2010, so I'm still a newbie. I've jumped in feet first and haven't been afraid to try new things, but I don't want to ruin a quilt by going overboard with free motion quilting.
I find myself using your lovely designs in many of my quilts! I would love to also see some video tutorials on some "tradtional" FMQ techniques too, ya know since you're asking 😀 You make learning new FMQ techniques so easy!

I think you do a great job doing what you are already doing. The one thing I would love to see would be how to fix mistakes. I think this would help all levels of quilters, because so often we freeze up and don't know how make a fix look decent. The poor quilt gets shoved to the back of the line until some fix, or even just the courage to fiddle with it appears. Just my two cents. You are a gifted teacher. Thanks for all that you provide.
Could you split your blog into separate subjects? It is getting very cumbersome to navigate and rather overwhelming. Suggestions for groupings would be: Piecing tutorials, Recipes, My family, Background designs, For sale, Products, Chat, etc. etc. These headings could run across the top of a "home" page and quilters could click on the one they are interested in. I just submitted a comment and the computer system presumed I was my husband. I can't find a way to change the identity and reply info which the system insists on using. It should be Barbara and barbk@pobox.com. How do I change this? My husband does not quilt!!
