Wrapping it Wednesday

Today has been a really interesting day. This morning I woke up early and got back to my regular yoga class after missing it for nearly 3 months.

I realized while I was out of town that my usual mindset of “gotta get to work early, gotta get my work done!” is really rather silly. It’s this mindset that has made me miss yoga and many other morning events because I feel so much pressure to get downstairs and online.

The fact is, I will always be busy! Rather than let it stress me out and turn me into a nasty monster, I really just need to chill out and enjoy the ride.

So today after yoga, I treated myself to a massage with my favorite massage therapist and then came home and took a nap! Josh took care of all the orders from the shop so I could take the day off.

And of course with a much more relaxed and chill attitude, I sat down at my machine and in a blink of the eye I’d stitched through all the remaining samples needed for the book!

It’s amazing how much easier it is to work and accomplish quite a lot with a better attitude!

While the day hasn’t been spent working on the million other things on my “to-do” list, finishing these squares is a huge step to finishing From Daisy to Paisley, the beginner filler photo book.

Now all that’s left to do is edit the photos, place them in the book, and write the “how to stitch” descriptions.

Wrapping up this first mini book feels really good. Almost as good as finishing the DVD! I just received an email from my DVD guy and tomorrow morning we’ll meet up to get the master disc and files!

It will still take some time to get the master disc duplicated, but I’m finally feel like I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. These projects have been in process since June so I’m definitely ready to finish them up and move on to something new!

So that’s it for this What’s Leah Working on Wednesday. While I may not have accomplished a whole lot today, I feel great and that’s what really counts!

Let’s go quilt!

Good on you, Leah! All work and no play, etc, etc. You do have to take time for yourself, because it's been my experience that something happens to our body and we crash. The 'rest' is forced on to us and may take a very long time for healing. We don't want you to burn out, cause we love what you do.

  2. I don't find the 1/4" seam to be inaccurate on my machine. But what you can do with the Horizon 7700 is make your adjustments so that the seam is accurate, and then put it in your favorites, so it comes out like that every time. It's easy to do, just look in the manual.

I run the Janome quilters list at Yahoo and repeatedly I have asked Janome to come out with a true scant 1/4" foot. They just don't get why a scant 1/4" foot is desirable and why some like the needle in the center of the hole. Quilters convince Pfaff to do it in the mid 90's, but we haven't manage to get through to Janome. But don't get me wrong, I love my Janome machines.
