New Tool for Improved Posture While Quilting

Josh and I have just added an awesome new quilting tool to the Quilt Shop! The Quilting Back Support is an adjustable back support brace that comfortably improves your posture while quilting and sewing. When adjusted properly, a two pound weight rests at your low back, and acts like a gentle counter weight to your body’s natural tendency to curl forward.

The result is excellent, easy to maintain upright posture. The Quilting Back Support can not only reduce back pain and fatigue it also improves your posture, preventing potential long-term health problems.

I’ve had terrible posture for most of my life. For the last three years I’ve also struggled with back and neck pain and frequent, intense headaches. When I began using the Quilter’s Back Support it took a few days to get used to and yes, my back was a bit sore as my muscles weren’t used to holding up two extra pound of weight.

Now that I’ve gotten used to wearing the back support, I find it essential for maintaining great posture while quilting and working on the computer, and Josh has even started wearing one too!

The gentle reminder to relax and bring my shoulders down, and the subtle counter balance to my tendency to curl forward has dramatically changed the way I feel after quilting for long periods of time. This has also completely changed the way I sit at a computer or my design desk, and forced me to begin developing better habits for sitting up straight at all times.

  1. That looks great! I sit on a wobble cushion that I got from my chiropractor. It keeps your spine gently moving and I have it at my computer, my sewing machine chair and at the table. My back stays limber and I never seem to slouch or ache in that way.
