28. Quilt Lines & Stars in a Disappearing 9 Patch

We’re moving right along with our Disappearing Nine Patch blocks this week by learning the first quilting design: lines and stars!

I think this is particularly appropriate for the week of July 4th. These lines and stars feel pretty patriotic to me!

These lines and stars are very simple and straight forward, however hitting all the lines with the least amount of travel stitching might require a bit of bouncing around. Personally I bounced around a lot while quilting this, switching from the stars to the lines to stars in a rather chaotic way. See what I mean in this video:

Ultimately there’s no right or wrong way to quilt any of these blocks, but there are paths that might be easier or require less travel stitching and ditching.

As for finding the absolute best method for you – try tracing the quilting guide several times with a pen to mentally move through the design. As I said in the video, it’s never a waste of time to practice!
