Home Decorating Vs. Organizing
What was so interesting talking to Stephanie was learning there’s a vast difference between organizing and decorating. Case in point she talks about how a lot of professional home organizers are awful decorators, and vice versa. In the end it’s all chalked up to personality.
How many times have you visited a quilting friend’s home and realized how different her sewing studio is compared to yours? Stephanie gives a really cool example of two different organizing styles: one where the quilter has the notions and threads out on display, and another who has everything in drawers and behind cupboard doors.
I had such a good time talking to Stephanie and hearing her unique perspective as both a quilter and professional interior designer!
What’s Going on around the House
I’ve been struggling with perfectionism throughout all of my time quilting. Writing my Goddess book has really put a laser-like focus on perfectionism and how sabotaging and toxic it can be.
This is why having a deadline is so important for me!
Remember, the word priority never used to be utilized as a plural: priority means one thing and one thing alone on the top of everything else.
Working through so many problems with the rabbit, the hutch, and heat really puts it all in perspective!

Leah – you are such a cutie. I so enjoy watching you. I had to laugh as just last night as I was quilting on my daughter’s wedding present (king size quilt), I was thinking this is so scary – what if it’s not perfect enough, and this is taking so much time, and will I ever finish it. I sat there and thought those really talented quilters like Leah don’t have to feel this way. Hahaha – I see that you have those thoughts too. So is that good, you are just like us? Or bad because I will probably always have these doubts even if I ever get to your level? Hahaha Well – happy quilting to all of us.
Aw, Linda, of COURSE I also worry about perfection. Everyone does! Yes, if anything, I doubt myself even more because I feel like when my quilts show or when a student looks closely at a sample, she’s judging my stitches. So the key is to let it go and declare it’s “good enough” and make that your goal.
