Time Lapse Quilting with Todd DuBay

Hello my quilting friends! Today I’m sitting down with Todd DuBay who makes awesome time lapse quilting videos. I hope this podcast inspires you to try out the time lapse setting on your phone and shoot a video as you make your next quilt!

I did have issues with color balance in this video and I’m investigating a new method for filming the screen. If the trippy color swirls are too much for you, simply listen to the podcast using this player or download it to your computer:

Jump ahead to time: 25:16 to get straight to the interview with Todd DuBay!

Be sure to check out Todd’s website Quilting in the Fast Lane. Make sure to listen to the end to learn about Todd’s challenge for quilters… it’s going to be awesome!

I really hope you’ll give time lapse videos a try. They are so easy to film, and a great way to document your quilt and quilting style. Just think in a hundred years your great grandchildren can sit under your quilt while watching you put it together. I just think that’s so cool!

What’s Going on around the House

I’m back at work on my new goddess quilt, Eye of Calm. I needed to do a bit more quilting with water soluble thread and now I’m clipping away the batting for trapunto.

I’m clipping away batting on the back to make some places in this quilt extra puffy!

Trapunto clipping is one of my favorite activities, believe it or not. I just love sitting down and clipping. It doesn’t have to be perfect and slowly the quilting design is revealed on the back of the quilt. It’s amazing!

Ms. Bunny Giveaway

This weekend I ran a full test on the Ms. Bunny Spoonflower Fabric Panel and made two dolls with dresses on my treadle machine. It was a workout!

This version of Ms. Bunny is available in a cut-and-sew fabric panel!

But I don’t need two identical Ms. Bunny dolls (on top of the dozen or so I’ve made already) so I’m giving one away!

To be eligible for a free Ms. Bunny all you’ll need to do is sign up for our newsletter. You can join our newsletter here. And if you’re already signed up, you can send us an email on our contact page here. Next Wednesday I’ll announce the winner in podcast #106.

Upcoming Quilting Seminar

Finally, don’t forget about our Quilt Fantastic seminar on June 22nd in Kingsport TN. We’re having a longarm session in the morning and then a home machine demo in the afternoon. Sign up for one or both! Click Here for more information on this quilting seminar.

I really hope you enjoyed my chat with Todd! I’ve done my own share of time lapse videos so it was so much fun for me to interview an experienced time lapse videographer. I’ll definitely be joining in the fun of Todd’s upcoming project!

Let’s go quilt,
