Difficulty LevelSuper Beginner – Part of the reason why I love Drunk Spiral so much is because it’s so easy and fast to quilt. These days I just don’t have time to quilt for hours and hours on a project with really tedious, fiddly designs. Drunk Spiral is the perfect machine quilting design to add extra texture to your quilts without a lot of fuss or complication.

Design Family – Independent – Just in case you’re looking for other designs to try that are similar, make sure to check out Basic Spiral and Blazing Spiral. Both of these designs work the same way because they’re all Independent Designs you can quilt by wiggling into a shape, then spiraling back outward.

All of these designs are very fast to quilt because they don’t require any travel stitching. This saves a lot of time because you don’t have to slow down or stitch carefully as you flow in and out of the spiral shapes.

Now that you know how to quilt Drunk Spiral, where do you plan to use this machine quilting design on your quilts? Do you like this free form, wiggly design, or do you prefer circles or flame shapes like the other designs? Feel free to share you ideas in the comments below!

Let’s go quilt,

I love this design! You see "drunk spirals" and I see "rose blossoms". ! I'm definitely giving this a try tomorrow! Thanks so much for the inspiration.

  2. I first read your title as "How to QUIT Drunk Spiraling" and thought, yeah, my spirals look like I was drunk so I should read this. ROFL! From now on when my spirals look like these, I'll say I meant to do that. Thanks for the unintended chuckle.
