Hi Leah, as a 'baby boomer' I loved your interview – and as a new quilter I loved your interview…. very pleased to hear that I don't 'need' one of those huge machines and that with more practice my quilting can be fantastic…. thanks for all the ideas….

hi there! i have a confession, well, more of a proclamation. i am a hand quilter (as well as a hand piecer if you wanna get technical). and by hand quilter i mean i detest machine quilting (not machine sewn quilts or machine quilters bear in mind) with a fiery passion from hell. I consider touching my quilts with a machine the greatest kind of sacrilege. that is until i saw your blog and saw all the fun designs you can make with a machine that just wouldnt work quite right by hand, so i dusted off my machine (gift from my grandma) and got out some fabric and batting and tried. if i went to slow my stitches were massive, if i went too fast my machine shook like a possessed monkey on crack. after an hour of trying to make a simple circle i came to the conclusion that machines hate me as much as i do them and returned to my comforting size 9 hand needle. what am i doing wrong?
