Day 51 – Greek Key

Today’s filler design is inspired by the very old, very well know Greek Key design so often used in architecture, graph design, and even wall paper!

Inspiration – I believe the Greek Key pattern was one of the first graphic designs I ever tried to capture in stitches. This was way back when I was 14 years old and madly in love with beadwork.

It just goes to show that design shapes that appeal to you can easily be inspiring for quilting, even if they weren’t originally designed for this craft!

Design Family – Edge to Edge. This will work beautifully in sashing or expanded over your whole quilt, but probably wouldn’t be the best choice for small or complicated areas.

Difficulty Level – Intermediate. This design is not difficult to stitch initially, but it can be challenging to keep the “T” shapes consistent as you mirror them over your quilt.

Directional Texture – 2 Directions. As with most edge to edge designs, this filler will work best placed horizontally or vertically on your quilt.

Suggestions for Use – This filler design will look exceptional when combined with Echo Shell in a Greek inspired quilt. I can just see Odysseus’s ship on choppy waves with Greek Key surrounding the whole scene in the sashing!
