New Podcast – Hello My Quilting Friends!
Hello My Quilting Friends! Yes, I’ve named my new podcast after the funny intro I share in my videos. It seemed like the perfect title because I want this podcast to be like a conversation between quilting friends. For me that means talking about quilting, running a business, how to balance doing 500 things at once, and all the while enjoying my life and my family.
I’ve been thinking about starting this podcast since the beginning of the summer, but for one reason or another I’ve put it off. Mostly I put it off because I had no idea what I was doing and didn’t have the time or brain space to stop, slow down, and learn something new.
So I did what most people do when they want to do something, but they don’t want to do the work: I talked about it, I thought about it, but I didn’t work on it. It’s not surprising that the podcast never made itself! Lol!
I finally got the kick in my pants that I needed while at Quilt Market a few weeks ago. Christa Watson, Stephanie Palmer, and I shared a Schoolhouse Presentation on writing and publishing books and I recorded the audio from this event. I had no idea if it would come out good enough to use, but it was worth a try!

In this first episode we talk a lot about different ways you can write and publish books. Christa has traditionally published two books with Martingale. Stephanie self publishes her awesome Quilter’s Planner, and I’ve gone hybrid – I self publish, but also contract with a traditional publisher, C&T, to gain a bigger reach for certain books.
In this podcast we talk about why we write and publish books, why we’ve chosen the forms of publishing we use, and how you can get started writing and publishing books yourself.
My goal with this podcast series is to start sharing more about business and how to make a living with your craft. I’ve been trying to find a good medium to share this information for awhile, and after getting addicted to many business and writing podcasts, I realized this was the best way to share my love for quilting AND business at the same time.
So please go check out our first episode and find all the links to everything we mention in the transcript. If you like it, please share it with your friends! I’m super excited about sharing in this new way and I’d love for many quilters to listen to it!
Let’s go quilt,
