Josh Quilts Zigzags in a Pinwheel Block

Josh here, and I’m back to free motion quilt zigzags in a pinwheel block.

This block was a great practice piece. I really enjoyed all of the straight lines, but it was also a nice challenge to stitch so close to the center and learn to slowly travel stitch as that area is very dense.  This is a great block to practice speed control as you will be doing a lot of travel stitching over the center.

Here is the finished block:

You can see I did not stitch in the ditch across the perimeter and the pinwheel lines. Here is what it looks like on the back:

Looks pretty different from the back. Almost like Escher lightning bolts or vanishing point combs.

This block was a good experience to stitch, and I hope you had fun with it as well.
