Speedy Spiral Quilting Design
I have a gift quilt that must be quilted and finished TODAY! Learn how I quilted it with a super soft, super speedy spiral quilting design:
Click Here to find the Grace Qnique 21. Teaming up with this longarm machine was the only way I could finish this quilt so quickly. With over 17 inches of space to quilt in, I was able to quilt this 60-inch throw quilt with only 4 advances through the frame!
I picked this Basic Spiral design, but unlike the original tutorial, in this video I quilted this design on a massive 2-inch quilting scale. I was comfortable leaving that much space open on this quilt because the batting rating allowed quilting up to 8 inches. This means I could have left 7 inches of space open and the batting would still wear well within the quilt.
I LOVE being able to put a quilt on my Continuum Frame, quilt it, and take it back off the frame in 1 hour or less. I could never consider giving quilts as gifts when I quilted on a home sewing machine because it was just too time consuming and labor intensive.
That being said, I still just managed to finish the binding in time! I finished yesterday evening so the quilt was complete on time. Click Here to find my binding method, which is entirely stitched on a machine.
Whew! That was quite a challenge, but I’m so glad I made it. Now I’m eyeing my stash of quilt tops and wondering just how many I can knock out with this super easy, super speedy spiral quilting design!
Let’s go quilt,
Leah Day
