37. Quilt Straight Lines in a House Block
This week we’re going to quilt this block with simple straight lines. Lines can do loads for a quilt, and I wanted to see what would happen if I played with multiple angle through the many different areas of this block. As you can see, lines can easily be all you need to quilt a block beautifully:
Yes, I’ve gotten pretty far behind with linking up all our Building Blocks Quilt Along posts. I’ve finally gotten this main page updated so you can find all the links to the blocks we’ve learned so far.
You can also find all the videos organized together in the Building Blocks Playlist. Each video will play one after the other in sequence. I hope you have plenty of time though – there’s more than 12 hours of videos in this playlist so far!
And just in case you’re just joining in this fun quilt along, you only need a copy of the Building Blocks Quilt Pattern to join in the fun!
Now let’s watch the video to see exactly how to free motion quilt all these straight lines in a house block:
Yes, this design is a bit time consuming because so many lines are designed over the house and sky areas. Just remember to take your time and be patient. Practicing straight lines on a small scrap sandwich would be a great idea because it will warm up your body to the movements and help you figure out where you need to place your hands on the quilt to gain the most control.
Definitely swing back by tomorrow to check out Josh’s take on this block. He wasn’t in the mood to stitch so many lines so his version is quite different from mine.
So what do you think? Are you excited to try quilting this block, or have this line design inspired other projects? Feel free to ask questions or post your experience in the comments below!
Let’s go quilt,
