Wow! Speeding things up the past few weeks is definitely making this project move faster. We’re ready to quilt our last Disappearing 9 Patch block today with Stippling and Echoes to make this cool bulls-eye effect:
If you feel like you’re falling behind on this project, don’t worry! Starting August 1st, we will slow back down again and return to posting one block or quilting design a week. By speeding things up for a bit we’ll definitely have this project completed before the holidays.
As for this design, I got a bit nit picky and decided to quilt the two inner circles separately, so they form rings through the center of the block like this:
Quilting this way required two extra thread breaks and a little more effort to quilt the circles singly. I could have just stitched in the ditch through the center to knock out those circles instead. This was just one of those situations that I wanted a certain effect and had to take a bit more time to make it happen, but in the end, doesn’t that look cool?!

It’s good to understand that cool designs sometimes require a bit more effort, more thread breaks, and more fussing with the quilt block, but in the end, of you get the effect you were aiming for, all the effort you put into it will be well worth it!
