Vacation Link Up
We might be taking a vacation from the Quilt Along, but that doesn’t mean we can’t share our progress on projects we’re working on this month!
Over the last few days I finished another panel of the KING quilt:
The most time consuming stitches are the circles because I have to slow down in order to form a nice, connecting O without it going all wibbly wobbly. Finally for the next panel I decided to start marking some of the circles:
This allowed the circles to get much bigger to create this huge version of Sawblades. Don’t you just love those smiley faces? My father-in-law gave me that idea during dinner one day and I’ve wanted to try it out ever since.
I haven’t progressed much in my 365 quilt, but the 365 book is coming right along. All the photos have been inserted and now it’s just a matter of polishing and editing. This is one difficult book to write because…well…it’s based on a blog and will always have that “bloggy” feel. Not much I can do about it except make sure there’s no glaring typos!
Time to shut up and go quilt!

Leah, I have been learning from your quilting videos for a couple of years now, but due to some medical issues was away from my sewing for many months and just started looking for more of your videos and discovered this amazing Quilt Along. I wish I had known it was going on. I have ordered a Janome Horizon 7700 and it should be here any day now. I was seriously looking at them long before you got yours, but when I saw your video about how much you enjoyed it, I really started 'test driving' them at the dealers in my area. Well, as I said, I finally saved enough to take the plunge and they were kind enough to send their floor model home with me to use until mine arrives. After making a small table topper (30" square) and then quilting it myself using the tips I have learned and practiced from your earlier videos, I was stunned at the ease of doing free motion on this machine. What a difference from my tiny Pfaff (which I love, but it just doesn't do free motion well). Today I also ordered your package with the Queen Supreme Slider, gloves and Bobbin Washers. I can't wait to try them out. So, now that I have already written a novel here, I will get to the real point of my writing to you. I wanted to thank you for all the time, effort and patience you have expended to help those of us that don't have the capability nor the desire to have a Long Arm Machine. I love doing my own quilting, even just the little quilts and toppers I have done, I'm still a novice and not a very good one at that but you make me feel that I can learn to free motion well enough to do my grand kids quilts and other projects that I want to do on my own. Thank you just doesn't seem like enough to express how much help you have been and continue to be for me. But all the same here it is again, Thank you Leah, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for being just a click away, no matter when I have needed your help the last few years. And please forgive me for not writing sooner. Hugs…
