Day 206 – Pebble Loop

It’s More Filler Monday so let’s check out a new paisley / pebbling combination!

This Pebble Loop design is a variation of Pebbled Paisley. This time instead of pebbling the first step of the design, you instead fill the second loop. Check out the slightly different texture even such a small change can make:

Whew! I finally feel like my head is above water after a long weekend working through several different projects.

Today I’m busy preparing for the Asheville Quilt Show. Josh and I will be heading up on Thursday to set up our booth. I’m so excited about vending this show for the first time!

I decided last night that we really needed a banner for our booth and quickly designed a banner using my logo as inspiration:

So while I run off to cut out the sun portion of this banner, you sit back and enjoy learning how to stitch Pebble Loop:

Inspiration – I’ve been following my “what if” thoughts lately and when looking at Pebbled Paisley I asked myself “What if another area of the design was filled with pebbles?” That’s really all it takes to create a new design!

Difficulty Level – Advanced. There is a lot of careful traveling, thread buildup, and detail stitching with this design. If you struggle with it, try stitching Pebbled Paisley first as that is the easier design of the two.

Design Family – Pivoting. I absolutely love these Paisley types of designs because they’re such universal designs. They will work in every area of your quilt and look great stitched on any scale.

Directional Texture – All directions. This design has a combination of two things that make it very eye-catching: movement and thread buildup.

The thread, especially in the pebbled areas, builds up and makes the design stand out better. The more it stands out and contrasts, the more your eye perceives the movement and texture of the design!

Suggestions for Use – This is a great design for the areas you really want to show off on. For some reason I keep thinking this would have been a great design to use on The Duchess. It’s just the right combination of elegance and texture that would have really set off the wholecloth motifs.
