Day 112 – Rainforest Leaf
I don’t know about you, but I could use some tropical weather just about right now!
Let’s pretend we live in a tropical rainforest while we stitch Rainforest Leaf:
Well, it looks like it’s going to be only one more week of kitchen remodel and then it will finally be all over!
Today we got our cooktop back so it looks like Josh and I will be back to cooking up a storm in the evenings. I’ve gotta say that I never imagined I’d miss vegetables as much as I have for the past few weeks.
We’re definitely going to start cooking up loads of healthy, veggie dinners!
Enough about food (I’m getting hungry!) let’s learn how to stitch Rainforest Leaf:
Inspiration – One of my favorite plants is the Elephant Ear, a big shade loving plant with wide, rainforest like leaves.
One of these days I’m going to design a quilt with these big leaves in it and Rainforest Leaf will be the perfect design to stitch within it.
Difficulty Level – Beginner. This design is really just a combination of straight lines so it’s very easy to stitch. Just keep your hands parallel to your foot as you stitch and your lines will stay straight and even.
Design Family – Stem Centered. This design is works off of the center stem, almost like a foundation. Once you get the stem laid out, the rest of the design comes together very easily.
This is definitely a design that will work well in open areas where you need to fill in lots of space quickly on your quilt.
Directional Texture – All directions. Because of the way the stem and vein lines work, the filler seems to bring texture to your quilt from all directions.
Suggestions for Use – Need a funky stitch for a plain border area? Try filling it with a long, slightly curving stem, then fill in the background with rainforest veins. It’s sure to look great and finish your quilt quickly!

I think you're quilted blocks are gorgeous AS-IS. I really hope you do a whole quilt or a couple whole quilts with the quilted blocks joined together. That would be totally beautiful!!!
Oh, and I love your goddesses.. your style of art is just the thing you would see on the back of one of my husband's tee shirts. YOu should really look into selling some of the patterns to a T-shirt design company . . or ANY design company for that matter.
